Joint Committee for Lutheran Work in China Minutes and Correspondence 1948-1962.

The records in this series comprise printed meeting minutes and typewritten correspondence related to the JCLWC and are from 1948-1962. Meeting minutes contain a record of items discussed, recommendations offered, and resolutions adopted. Most of the minutes are not the originals, but copies that were in possession of the ULCA. As such, it may be the case that this series does not contain a complete set. Sometimes included as exhibits are minutes from other meetings pertaining to mission work in China. Some minutes have their accompanying agendas for that meeting. There are also minutes from other meetings of committees, such as the Lutheran World Federation's China Advisory Committee, with work relevant to matters being considered by the JCLWC. Also found in this series is typewritten correspondence pertaining to the committee itself, as well as matters discussed at meetings and issues for future meetings. Much of the correspondence is to and from ULCA BFM executive secretaries Luther Gotwald (1947-1952), Earl S. Erb (1952-1962), and field secretary for Asia, Paul P. Anspach (1947, 1952-1962). Records are arranged chronologically. Duplicate meeting minutes were removed.
